Katie Ladzinski

Katie’s career in volleyball began in 2000 when she was first introduced to the sport. Thinking that volleyball would be a good off-season choice as a basketball player, Katie quickly found volleyball would become her passion and primary interest.

Playing outside hitter and power ally at Brandywine High School, Katie became multi-versed when she entered the competitive club world in 2001. She began setting through her career at Intensity Volleyball Club in Central New Jersey. After her first year at IVC, her coach noticed the progress as hitter and found herself playing all the way around as S1 and an undersized opposite hitter.

Katie led her club in aces in 2004 and 2005 and was 4th in the state of Delaware for Aces in 2004, becoming the first time a public high school player placed in the top 5 in the category. In 2004 Katie served 25 straight points in 4 separate sets.

After securing a partial scholarship to Rutgers Camden in 2005 for volleyball and softball, Katie’s underlying chronic illness caused her to step back from the game and this is when her coaching career began, at just 18 years old, for McKean High School.

Katie coached Side by Side with Eric Furr her first season as the JV coach and assistant varsity coach, then had the opportunity to learn under David Lee at Dickinson High School. At Dickinson, Katie coached a total of 11 seasons as the JV Coach and Assistant Varisty Coach. In 2018 Katie began her club coaching career and became fascinated with the GMS style play that came with it.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:

“You have to go through the process to see the progress. Without the trial and error of making mistakes and being corrected, you cannot advance your skills. To learn what works you must learn what doesn’t, and why. I believe in explaining the “whys” of volleyball to deliver a comprehensive understanding of each skills. As a science enthusiast, I love that everything in volleyball boils down to angels and energy. Every single skill can be explained by explaining the angles and energy needed to overcome gravity for the perfect placements.

In addition to believing athletes should have a comprehensive understanding of skills, I believe in building the entire athlete- body and mind. In order for athletes to achieve their maximum potential they must receive maximum support and find themselves in an environment productive to learning. Leading by positivity and encouragement always produces not only the best results but a happy athlete, able to perform and strive. Fueling your body for success is key in not only performance but recovery. I believe nutrition and injury prevention are just as important as skill development.

Based off my personal experience, I have a passion for making public schools competitive again. I’ve grown tired of seeing the same top six private schools in the state finals every year. To be the best you have to play with the best, not just the best of who can afford club volleyball. I believe in a family and community oriented club, passionate about supporting our local athletes who deserve to advance their play without financial restriction. Because of this I am putting an emphasis on our scholarship fund. As a club I would like to hold events to fundraise for both local philanthropic causes and our athlete scholarship fund.

In addition to being our assistant club director and coach, Katie is also a stay at home mom to two and two-time business owner.

As our merch specialist Katie will run our Delaware Juniors Store, where we will have team gear, customizable swag, family apparel, and more.

Katie’s love and passion has spilled over to her family throughout the years. In addition to having two nieces in the Delaware Juniors System, she is joined on staff by her Sister Julie, in house nutritionist, and her other sister Renee, mini-youth coach.
